Chefs in Schools & Hackney School of Food

Chefs in schools are an amazing organisation who aim to transform school food and food education.  They work with chefs from the commercial sector to develop fresh and flavourful food options on a tight school budget. Some of this involves staff training, sharing expertise and also sourcing high-quality produce at a manageable cost.

Charles Gabriel, our Chef Educator, is an Urban Food Awards prize-winner in his own right having been trained by Chefs in Schools after joining us from the commercial sector.  He and his team hade adapted the Chefs in Schools' menus and also contributed to them.

To reduce our carbon footprint and support a more sustainable food chain, we have two meat-free days per week in school. This also allows us to buy meat and fish of very high quality for the other 3 days of the week.
